İstinye is a neighborhood on the European side of İstanbul. It is situated between Yeniköy and Emirgan on the northwestern coast of the Bosphorus, within the district of Sarıyer. It is one of the best seashore locations on the Strait where people walk around throughout the weekends. İstinye is famous for its seafood restaurants and cafés. In classical antiquity, it was the site of a town called Lasthenes, corrupted to Sosthenion in the Middle Ages. The area was the site of the Michaelion, a famed church, and monastery committed to St. Michael in Byzantine times.
The headquarters of the Istanbul Stock Exchange is situated in İstinye since 1995.
